Abstract:

Experimental physics programs span a wide set of goals, putting stringent requirements on the detector performance and calling for sophisticated and state-of the-art technologies.  High precision measurements require wide kinematic coverage, excellent momentum resolution, and precise determination of the primary vertex.  Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (MAPS) offer the possibility of high granularity in combination with low power consumption and low mass, making them ideally suited for tracking detectors.  In this talk, I will discuss current and future MAPS-based trackers for both the ALICE experiment at the LHC and the upcoming ePIC experiment at the EIC.
