Paolo: learned at last TrackML meeting that aCTS will soon read event files and digitize hits as “raw data”.  Testing production of hit files with latest acts version (0.3) and conversion from root to numpy. numpy.load run into memory issues when reading more than 1M tracks. ROOT+root_numpy may be better solution for batch training on very large datasets.
